Laboratory sulphuric acid is a highly corrosive, colorless, viscous, and oily mineral acid, usually supplied at concentrations of 95–98%. It is a strong acid and powerful dehydrating agent used in labs for chemical analysis, catalysis, and cleaning (pickling) metals. Always add acid to water, never water to acid, to prevent violent splashing.
